As we interacted with the local women we realized Menstrual Health was a major issue in the rural areas, particularly low cost Menstrual Health Management products. For most rural women these were either unavailable, inaccessible and most of all unaffordable.
After many discussions and a lot of deliberation our women decided to come up with their own Menstrual Health Management solutions. So we set up our own Sanitary Napkin Manufacturing Unit along the Arunachalam Murugantham (Padman) model, with his machines. These napkins are 95% biodegradable, the core material being wood pulp, with a ratio of 10 gm wood pulp to 2 gm gel, which considerably reduces the quantity of gel thus making it safer and more hygienic.
